Perran Sands (Perranporth)

There have been some problems in the sand dunes near to this beach but the MOD, who are the landowners, have now banned nude sunbathing in the dunes so hopefully naturists will be able to enjoy their innocent pursuits in peace.  The beach itself is not affected by this ban and I would advise anyone visiting this beach to keep away from the dunes.  The main naturist area is by the cliffs at the most northerly end of this 3 mile stretch of sand which runs from Perranporth northwards towards Penhale army camp.

To get to it you can quite simply walk onto the beach at Perranporth, turn right and walk as far as you can although on a high spring tide you may have to deviate onto the coast path.  Alternatively you can park at Holywell Bay and walk along the coast path. The distance walked can be reduced by driving out of Perranporth on the B3285 signposted to Newquay, up a hill past the golf club and on your left you’ll see Perran Sands Holiday Park.  Go to reception and pay to park in the surfer’s car park, park as directed then walk down to the beach, turn right and then walk as far as you can.

This is a delightful spot  but do take care in the sea.  Such a huge expanse of shifting sand can cause strong and unpredictable currents.
